Green Sox Cricket Club was formed by three young and handsome civil servants, B.J.F. Osborne, R.T. Wilkinson, and S.W. Howe in central London’s Astral cafe in February 2012.

The Green Sox, which boasts a loose affiliation to HMG’s Department for Transport, played its first match, a friendly fixture, on 15 May 2012 at the Civil Service Sports Ground in Chiswick vs a team from the Department for Work & Pensions. The club played a further eight games during their first season, chalking up one win.
